Start with the original
Azeroth Survivors is Aethus’s single-player, WoW-inspired survival roguelike. The launch announcement compares it with Vampire Survivors and Megabonk and describes an alpha game with progression between runs.
Use the original website ↗ to play. Desktop Chrome is the browser suggested by the announcement. Let the initial game-data download finish before deciding that the game has stalled. Loading the website is not the same as completing the game download.
Record any build identifier shown by your client. If there is none, note the date and whether you are playing the original browser game or a local build. Our original-game notes do not assume parity with the community reconstruction.
Give your first run a clear purpose
Use the first attempt to understand the version in front of you. The v0.91.0 selection-screen help lists WASD or both mouse buttons for movement, 1/2/3 for card selection, R to reroll and Enter to play. Read the current client’s prompts before relying on these controls after an update. Our advice here is an editorial learning process, not a claim that we have tested an optimal opening.
- Choose a class you want to learn. The class field notes collect the limited original-game reports we could verify.
- Identify why you take damage. Note whether you were surrounded, stopped moving, or failed to deal with a threat quickly enough.
- Change one decision. On the next attempt, test an upgrade or movement choice that addresses that specific problem.
- Keep the result. Record the class, map, progression and upgrade choices in the local run notebook.
Understand what carries over
The launch announcement identifies two persistent rewards: permanent items from bosses and Talent XP from runs. That matters when comparing classes. A later attempt may improve because of accumulated progression, a different set of upgrade offers, or better decisions.
Before calling a class stronger, compare your permanent equipment and Talent XP investment. Separate a fresh-start experience from an established character’s performance. The original v0.91.0 selector also exposes Collection, Drop Tables, Codex and Talents tabs. Use those in-client references for your version; we have not audited every entry or verified optimal talent routes.
Choose upgrades around a problem
Read what the offered upgrade changes in your client. Then ask what is currently ending your attempts. If enemies trap you, evaluate the options that might help you escape or survive. If a boss remains alive for too long, look at your damage choices. These are decision prompts, not guaranteed class synergies.
Write down both the choice and the result. A single lucky sequence of offers is useful experience, but it is not enough to establish a universally best build. Our comparison method explains how to keep those conclusions proportionate.
If the game will not start
The launch thread contains a historical HTTP 429 notice during high demand. That does not confirm a current outage. Check the message your browser shows now, then look at the creator’s latest updates in the community Discord ↗.
- Try the desktop browser recommended in the announcement: Chrome.
- Distinguish a continuing download from a repeatable startup error. Keep the error text if you need to report a problem.
- Mobile reports are inconsistent. A successful report on another device does not guarantee support on yours.
- For a local download, use the creator’s current Discord instructions. We have not verified a permanent installer URL.
